Daniel Watson

COMMUNITY & SCHOOL TEAM OFFICER

Hello, my name is Dan, and I joined inspire+ in October 2022! I am an ex-gymnast and county badminton player. I’m now participating in badminton once a week and cheerleading once a week, also. I have lots of experience in different sports; however, cheerleading and gymnastics are my specialities.
I used to be a full-time gymnastics coach at 776 gymnastics Newark whilst at university, and now I coach twice a week at Grantham gymnastics. So I have been coaching gymnastics for over eight years now.
My history of cheerleading started through the tumbling/gymnastics side of cheer, which got me first into it. I joined my first team in Grantham (Lincolnshire Cheer Academy), which then progressed onto other higher-level teams. One of these teams was Team England ParaCheer which progressed to compete in Orlando, Florida, at the World Championships for Cheer, where I won Gold! I have now stepped back more from cheer but still, do what I can at a team called Intensity.
My career pathway has varied a lot since I finished school. After finishing school, I went to Grantham College to do a BTEC in Sport. After one year and getting full marks at college, I heard about inspire+ and their apprenticeship programme. This led to me working at Long Bennington Primary school as an apprentice for a year and as a Sports teacher/Teaching assistant in the second year. After this, I decided to further my education to teach whilst staying in sport. I applied to Lincoln University and got an unconditional offer for the PE and Sport course. I stayed there for three years whilst being a gymnastics coach and Vice President of the cheer society in my final year. After finishing university, I applied to inspire+ and got a job on our CAST team, which I have thoroughly enjoyed since starting!
