Starting at Level 2 and progression to Level 4
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My interests are sports, fitness, education, health and well-being. I was able to secure my apprenticeship, I believe, because of my additional qualifications and courses. I have such as a lifeguarding qualification and a swim teachers qualification. The only previous experience I had prior to working with children was when working at a children’s holiday sports summer camp. My ambitions and goals are to become a sports entrepreneur.
Why did you choose to be an inspire+ apprentice?
I chose to be an inspire + apprentice because I found the charity really inspiring, and I found the aim and purpose of the charity really rewarding and hopeful. I also chose to be a sports apprentice because I was not sure if I wanted to go into education/teaching within sport and exercise. I wanted to get a taste of what it is really like, and therefore I took the opportunity.
What did you learn during your apprenticeship?
I learnt a lot during my apprenticeship; I learnt about SEND needs within children and how to support children with SEND needs within an educational setting. I learnt how to support children within an educational setting, how to teach and coach a sports/ PE session, and I learnt different ways to teach a PE/Sports session to children with SEND needs and how to plan sessions for the children.
What do you hope to achieve in the future?
I would like to become a sporting entrepreneur and have multiple sporting businesses focused on education and sports rehabilitation.
What do you hope to achieve in the future? What are your career ambitions?
I would like to work within a primary school as a Teaching Assistant as you get to support pupils more. It means you can get to know them more than just seeing them once/twice a week.
Would you like to share a good memory from your apprenticeship?
My favourite throughout my apprenticeship so far is the sports days because I made the events within the sports day highly adaptive to support the pupils’ needs, and it gave them an opportunity to take part in the sports day since it was supportive for their needs.
Do you recommend other people to become an inspire+ apprentice?
Yes, I would because the apprenticeship gives you an opportunity to get a taste for PE and sport within education and gives you the knowledge and skills needed to work within education and in sport. inspire + is very supportive and helps you work on skills, gives you the confidence needed and helps you to develop your knowledge and understanding of sport and education.
