Emma Sharpe
PROJECT LEAD
From a young age, I have always been passionate about the power of sport and physical activity. A keen netball – playing, coaching, umpiring, and volunteering for my local club, county and region – I saw and felt the positive impact that sport can have on young people.
These early experiences led me to undertake a degree at Loughborough University in Sports Science with Management. I focused on a wide range of modules from physiology, psychology, coaching, marketing, accounting and public policy. In 2012, I graduated and started working in local government. I enjoyed working on contracts and projects that provided opportunities and encouraged people to be active. During this time, I developed a sport and physical activity strategy working with local partners to encourage people to be more active more often. I also assisted in delivering Council’s COVID-19 response, building links with local communities to help the most vulnerable. As a result, my passion for working with communities strengthened, and I saw the power of partnership working, which continued looking at a systems approach for tackling health inequalities.
In July 2022, I joined the team at inspire+ during an exciting time of growth on the charity’s Holiday Activity and Food Programme! I look forward to continuing to work on projects that make a massive difference to our local community and provide opportunities for young people to be healthy, happy and more active.
